In his Annual Address to the University Community, President Richard L. McCormick announced the start of a planning process for a $1 billion fundraising campaign, one part of a multipronged vision to bring new dollars to the university in light of cuts to state funding. The campaign will yield funds to support more students, endow professorships, launch or expand signature academic initiatives, and construct or renovate facilities. A Committee on Campaign Priorities will set campaign targets, construct an effective campaign plan, and come up with a vision of how $1 billion will positively transform the university.

In the 45-minute speech, the president also addressed ongoing changes to undergraduate education in New Brunswick, campus improvements, Rutgers and the New Jersey economy, efficiency and entrepreneurship, a new fellows program for graduate students, and more.
