Reading across America with 'Mr. President'
Rutgers President Richard L. McCormick and 4-year-old Audrey read Silly Sally, a lighthearted read-aloud rhyming story. McCormick and New Jersey Assemblyman Upendra Chivukula read to children at the Douglass Psychology Child Study Center in honor of Read Across America Day on March 2. The children spent two days baking cookies in honor of the visit, and members of the 4-year-old class repeatedly referred to McCormick as "Mr. President." McCormick toured the center, which is seeking to expand its facilities. Expanding the Child Study Center will allow staff to increase the scope of the research already in place, as well as care for more children, according to center Director Jennifer Manuola.
