Commencement 2007 at a glance
May is always a busy, exciting month on all of Rutgers' campuses, with more than 20 graduation ceremonies taking place. Here is a guide to the events and information on getting around campus during the latter half of May.
Universitywide commencement takes place Wednesday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. on Voorhees Mall in the heart of the College Avenue Campus. There, an estimated 10,990 graduates will be conferred degrees, including approximately 7,455 baccalaureate degrees and 3,535 master's and doctoral degrees.
Commencement speakers include Tavis Smiley, broadcaster and political commentator, best-selling author, talk show host, and philanthropist, and University College-New Brunswick student Fraidy Reiss.
Smiley, along with seven others including Rutgers board members Joan Bildner and Albert Gamper, will receive an honorary doctorate at commencement.
