On May 11, Rutgers highlighted its role in building a strong New Jersey economy and helped make the case for increased state funding during the annual Rutgers Day in Trenton. President Richard L. McCormick introduced the New Jersey Leaders of Tomorrow Presidential Internship Program: This fall, up to 20 juniors and seniors will serve in the district offices of New Jersey’s lawmakers and also attend a special Citizenship and Service Education (CASE)-administered political science seminar. The Rutgers Alumni Federation, CASE, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences (the renamed Cook College), Athletics, Rutgers Small Business Centers, members of the Outstanding Scholars Recruitment Program, and Friends of Rutgers were among the exhibitors showcasing the university’s programs and contributions. Sponsored by the Rutgers University Alumni Federation, the event attracted about 100 people, including state legislators and their aides, public policy leaders, alumni, faculty, staff, students, board members, and media.
