Presidential task force report: Rutgers alums represent untapped potential
In September 2006, President Richard L. McCormick appointed a task force from the university community, including active alumni leaders, representatives of the Rutgers University Foundation, and deans and officers of the institution, to evaluate the effectiveness of the university's relationship with Rutgers graduates.
The task force issued a 76-page report just before the beginning of the school year titled “Rutgers University Alumni Relations: The Imperative for Change.” (PDF)
“Alumni pride in Rutgers – in our academics and research, our award-winning faculty, our stellar graduates, and our high-achieving students – is growing every year,” McCormick wrote in a letter to the university community. “Yet for a variety of reasons, those feelings have not translated into the strongest possible partnership between Rutgers and its graduates. ... Surveys have revealed a tremendous untapped potential among our alumni, many of whom feel they do not have enough ways to participate in the life of the university.
“Rutgers owes it to our graduates – and to our future – to make alumni feel welcome, involved, and critical to our success,” McCormick wrote.
Alumni are encouraged to provide feedback to alumnifeedback@winants.rutgers.edu.
The university will hold a series of public forums on the three Rutgers campuses, where any member of the Rutgers community may attend and provide feedback directly to McCormick. All meetings will be held from 7 to 9 p.m.
