Congressman Rush Holt visits Rutgers to discuss enhanced funding for research
Science will be restored to its rightful place. That message from President Barack Obama's inaugural address was reaffirmed by Representative Rush Holt (D-NJ), who visited the Busch Campus Monday to discuss the federal economic stimulus plan. Holt said the attitude toward science in the Obama administration is markedly different from that of the previous administration.
"Some would say the stars are aligned well for science," Holt said during a speech at the Biomedical Engineering Building. Holt encouraged the university to apply for the new money, which will be distributed on a competitive basis by federal agencies such as the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.
