RUTGERS HOSTS PANEL ON BALANCING CAREER AND FAMILY IN THE SCIENCES

Panel discussion titled Balancing career and family in the sciences: a program for graduate students, postdocs, and faculty.

WHEN:

11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 7

WHERE:

Busch Campus Center, room 122 ABC, Piscataway.

WHO:

Joan Bennett, professor and associate vice president for the promotion of women in science, engineering and mathematics; Chuck Martin, professor of cell biology and neuroscience; Jennifer Momsen, post-doctoral associate; Deborah Silver, professor of electrical and computer engineering; and, Lena Struwe, assistant professor of ecology, evolution and plant biology. Melissa Brown, a graduate student in political science, will moderate the panel.

BACKGROUND: Balancing the needs of families while pursuing a career in science, engineering or mathematics is difficult, but its especially so for women. This discussion is meant to stimulate discussion about those difficulties.
