WHAT:An induction ceremony to welcome students who have been selected to participate in the Rutgers Future Scholars program.
WHO: Nearly 200 seventh-grade students and their parents will be greeted by Rutgers President Richard L. McCormick and Courtney McAnuff, vice president of enrollment management. Current Scholars will also share their experiences and offer encouragement.

BACKGROUND: Beginning in 2008, Rutgers committed to selecting up to 200 low-income, academically-talented students each year from the university’s host cities – Newark, New Brunswick, Piscataway and Camden – to receive mentoring, educational support and cultural programming from eighth grade through high school.
Students who successfully complete the pre-college program and are admitted to Rutgers will receive a four-year scholarship for the total cost of tuition. The program provides year-round support, including an intensive summer curriculum of college and career readiness courses in mathematics, chemistry, humanities, expository writing, art, college credit courses and more.
