Daylong symposium on the effects of global warming on the coasts, covering sea-level change in New Jersey, coastal zone management, dune restoration, the effects of tropical storms on the continental shelf, global warmings effects on bays and estuaries, and the socioeconomic and ethical implications of global warming and coastal change

BACKGROUND: How will global warming impact coastal communities? The New Jersey economy relies heavily on coastal communities for recreation, industry, food production and real estate. This symposium will outline the effects of global warming and sea-level rise on the shore, placing those effects in a global context. The researchers also will discuss the social, ethical and economic realities of global warming for the people of New Jersey.
