WHAT: The annual Veterans Day observance at Rutgers

WHEN: 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 8

WHERE: Rutgers University’s College Avenue Campus, New Brunswick, New Jersey. A wreath will be laid at the World War II Memorial, Voorhees Mall, at 11 a.m., followed by an observance ceremony in the Kirkpatrick Chapel, George and Somerset streets, at noon. Barbeque immediately follows on the lawn outside the chapel.

WHO: Jim and Pat Georgi, parents of Matt Georgi, a student veteran who died unexpectedly this spring, will present money their son raised shortly before his death for veterans’ scholarships at Rutgers. Air Force Maj. Gen. Robert G. Kenny, a former ROTC cadet and member of the Class of 1978, will speak at the Kirkpatrick Chapel ceremony. Dean James Hughes of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy will speak at the wreath laying on Voorhees Mall; and Richard L. Edwards, executive vice president of academic affairs, will introduce Gen. Kenny.
