Announcing Year-End University and Campus Awards for Faculty (May 2, 2012)

May 02, 2012

To the Campus Community:

As the academic year comes to a close, I am pleased to announce that the following members of the Rutgers–Camden faculty have received honors for demonstrated excellence in teaching, service, and research:

The annual Chancellor’s Awards for Teaching Excellence will be presented to Dr. Ira Roseman (professor, CFAS-psychology), Prof. Allan Stein (professor, CLaw), and Dr. Patricia Dunphy Suplee (assistant professor, SNC).  In each case, the selection committee noted the exemplary commitment to teaching displayed by the recipients.

Dr. Roseman will receive his award during the Arts and Sciences Honors Convocation on May 10; Prof. Stein will receive his award during the law school’s annual Class Day ceremony on May 16; and Dr. Suplee will receive her award during the School of Nursing’s awards ceremony on May 9.

The annual Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching will be presented to Dr. Alok Baveja (professor, SBC-management), who was cited for his dedication to students and creativity in teaching.  He will receive his award during the School of Business commencement ceremony on May 17.

I am pleased to report that Dr. Baveja also was selected to receive the Warren I. Susman Award for Excellence in Teaching, Rutgers’ highest honor for innovation in the classroom.  Similarly, University-wide recognition has been bestowed upon Dr. Laurie Bernstein (associate professor, CFAS-history), who has received a Leaders in Faculty Diversity Award.

These awards, which do not reflect the myriad honors bestowed by external organizations throughout the year, are indicative of the extraordinary quality and commitment of the faculty and staff at Rutgers–Camden.  Please join me in congratulating our colleagues on a job well done.
