Rutgers-Newark Professors and Students Observe Super Tuesday Results and Share Their Analysis, Views

(NEWARK, NJ, FEB. 4)—On Tuesday, February 5, 2008, Rutgers-Newark political science professor, Dr. Lisa Hull, and students of her “Law and Public Policy” class will convene in the lounge of the Paul Robeson Campus Center to watch the results of Super Tuesday as they are reported.  At least 35 undergraduate students, from the nation’s most diverse university, will be in attendance.  Other faculty members joining Dr. Hull include professors Frank Fischer and Mara Sidney.

BACKGROUND

Dr. Elizabeth Hull is chair of the Rutgers-Newark Department of Political Science.  She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research and teaches a variety of graduate and undergraduate courses in Public Law and American Government. Dr. Hull is an expert on the Fourteenth Amendment. Concern for the protection of the disadvantaged (women, racial minorities, aliens, and ex-felons) is the focus of her analysis of the equal protection and due process clauses.

Professor Hull has written numerous articles on the constitutional rights of women, minorities, and noncitizens, and three books: Without Justice for All: The Constitutional Rights of Aliens, Taking Liberties: National Barriers to the Free Flow of Ideas, and The Disenfranchisement of Ex-Felons.

In 1988 Prof. Hull received the Rutgers-Newark Charles Pine Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching, and in 2002 she received the Henry Browne Award for Teaching Excellence from the University College Alumni Association.
