Rutgers Hosts Community Education Event “African-Americans and Alzheimer's” April 29 for Newark Seniors

Community education event, “African-Americans and Alzheimer’s,” led by Professor Mark Gluck, director of the Memory Disorders Project at Rutgers University in Newark. The educational session will be followed by a “heart-healthy” luncheon.

Event to be attended by more than 100 senior citizens and community leaders from Newark.

Minority and economically disadvantaged seniors are at greater risk for Alzheimer’s disease, due to environmental, lifestyle and behavioral factors. In collaboration with local community organizations, Rutgers has developed educational and memory fitness programs to promote memory health, cognitive vitality, and a better understanding of Alzheimer’s disease among seniors in Greater Newark.
