Members of the Newark and Rutgers communities will participate.
WHAT: A ribbon-cutting to officially mark SPAA’s recent move into expanded facilities at 111 Washington St. The celebration includes brief remarks, live jazz music, self-guided tours and refreshments.
WHEN: Wed., Nov. 4, 2009, from 4 - 7 p.m.
WHERE: the Center for Urban and Public Service, 111 Washington St., on the campus of Rutgers University, Newark
BACKGROUND: The three-year-old SPAA is the newest school at Rutgers University and reflects the increased demand to develop leaders who can meet today’s public
service challenges. With the school expected to nearly double its enrollment over the next several years, a larger facility was needed to keep pace with the school’s anticipated growth and the vision of Dean Holzer. SPAA began the 2009-2010 academic year by taking over the building at 111 Washington St. which was vacated by the Rutgers Business School.
SPAA offers one of the nation’s top graduate programs, according to U.S. News and World Report (10th in public management and administration), and holds top 20 rankings in public finance and budgeting, city management and urban policy, and nonprofit management. It offers both graduate and undergraduate programs.
