BACKGROUND:

The number of prospective students and families taking admissions tours of the New Brunswick Campus has increased by 179 percent to more than 42,000 since 2003. This has made the need for a visitor center with ample parking and meeting space critical. The new Rutgers Visitor Center, designed and constructed in 10 months, answers both needs. Located on the Busch Campus near Rutgers Stadium in Piscataway, the center provides an introduction to the university through visual and interactive exhibits. More than $2 million of the $7.54 million cost of the building is being raised through donations, including $766,000 given by the Class of 1951 and other alumni groups.
