Spring Registration Opens for Rutgers Academy for Lifelong Learning

NEW BRUNSWICK/PISCATAWAY, N.J. New Jerseyans over 50 years old can choose from among 36 noncredit courses offered this spring by the Rutgers Academy for Lifelong Learning (RU-ALL). Registration is required by March 1.

The 10-week semester, presented by Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, starts March 7. Courses and seminars encompass such areas as history, opera, jazz, poetry, art, sociology, science and film studies. New courses include landscape design, the Japanese people, physics, investing, African-Caribbean studies, Western thought and economics. Additionally, students can attend gallery tours, concerts, lectures and plays at the Zimmerli Art Museum, State Theatre and George Street Playhouse, all in New Brunswick.

Courses feature lively discussions led by active and retired faculty from Rutgers and other area colleges and high schools. There are no grades or tests, and a college degree is not required.

Participants can choose up to two courses for a $100 fee; first-time registrants pay $50. There are additional fees for performances at the theaters. Classes are held Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Reformed Church, 23 S. Second St., Highland Park, from 10:30 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The facility is accessible to the handicapped and on-site parking is available.
