New Rutgers-Camden Program to Help Employees, Businesses Prepare for Mass Retirements of Baby Boomers

March 18, 2008

For Immediate Release

CAMDEN – As baby boomers prepare for retirement, the Rutgers School of Business-Camden has launched a new program to help remaining employees prepare for advancement opportunities within their organizations and industries.

The Rutgers Accelerated Management Program (RAMP) “is designed to help advance careers by providing a solid foundation in effective management principles,” says Ray Compari, associate dean at the Rutgers-Camden business school.

“It is well documented that baby boomers will be retiring in huge numbers over the next five years,” continues Compari.  “This trend will impact every industry nationwide and will create challenges for businesses to sustain strong management teams. At the same time, this trend will create wonderful opportunities for educated employees seeking organizational advancement.”

In response to this unique opportunity for new managers and those seeking management-level positions, the Rutgers Institute for Management and Executive Development (Rutgers IMED) has created RAMP as an intensive management development program that will prepare prospective and existing managers for advanced decision making and new responsibilities.

The 16-week program meets for eight biweekly sessions and blends the expertise of Rutgers faculty, Harvard Business Review case studies, team assignments, and a final presentation to a panel of senior executives.

“Rutgers has developed this RAMP program to feature limited time away from the office while providing a solid learning experience that can make a significant career impact,” says Compari.

Sessions begin April 4.  For more information, visit ramp.rutgers.edu or call (856) 225-6685.
