New Jersey's Largest Collegiate Career Fair is Jan. 7 at Rutgers

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – New Jersey’s largest collegiate career fair, sponsored by the Office of Career Services at Rutgers University, will take place at the Rutgers Student Center and Brower Commons on College Avenue from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 7.  The event is free and open to the public. Free shuttle buses will transport candidates to and from the Louis Brown Athletic Center on Rutgers’ Livingston Campus in Piscataway between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Parking is not available on the College Avenue Campus.   

Despite the faltering economy, more than 175 employers from a wide range of industries will interview soon-to-be and recent college graduates as well as experienced candidates for internships and employment. “Our business partners are still signing up,” said Janet Bernardin, manager of special programs for Career Services. “Employers in accounting, engineering, financial services, government, health, information technology, marketing and social service are participating.”

Last year, more than 2,000 candidates attended. Coordinators expect a larger turnout his year.

Candidates are encouraged to submit their resumes free of charge to an electronic database at careerservices.rutgers.edu by Jan.9. Resumes will be distributed one week after the event to all employers registered for the career day. Job seekers should also bring hard copies of their resumes to give to employers during the career fair. Business attire is suggested.
