Rutgers Law Student Graduates With Legacy of Service

May 14, 2008

CAMDEN --  When Tiffany Johnson graduates from the Rutgers School of Law—Camden during a 1 p.m. ceremony on Thursday, May 22, she will conclude an exceptional record of public service and academic scholarship as a law student.

She’ll also begin a new career as a lawyer, and continue a lifelong commitment to advocacy.

Johnson, the former vice president of the Black Law Students Association at the Rutgers—Camden law school, just completed an internship in the office of Trenton Mayor Douglas H. Palmer as an Eagleton Fellow in the department of Health and Human Services.  She worked with ex-offenders to help determine if their criminal records could be expunged and then advised them on the expungement process.  Johnson also helped to begin establishing an Expungement Legal Clinic in Trenton.

Johnson, who served as a Teach for America corps member before starting law school, was student co-director of the Street Law Pro Bono Program at Rutgers, where she also was a teaching assistant for legal research and writing and criminal law classes.

She has received various awards and scholarships while at Rutgers, including certificates of excellence in torts, constitutional law, and criminal law.

After graduation, she will join the firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius as an associate.
