Rutgers–Camden Students Send Video Messages to President Obama
CAMDEN - When future generations ask, "where were you when Barack Obama took his historic oath as the 44th president of the United States," close to 600 students, faculty and staff at Rutgers University's Camden Campus will say, "the Campus Center."
But before President Obama offered his first public address as commander in chief, students at Rutgers-Camden started their own conversation with the new president by offering him personal video messages.
Last month, the Courier-Post visited Rutgers-Camden to offer students, and the larger southern New Jersey region, the opportunity to wish President Obama congratulations and be featured on the newspaper's online inauguration effort: www.courierpostonline.com/yourprez.
Here are a few examples of the Rutgers-Camden student videos, now posted on YouTube:
Nicole Lister, a junior majoring in political science, discusses her own racial background and confidence that Obama "will carry through" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vxVaHyTnlE&NR=1.
"To be honest, I voted for McCain," says Brendan Haney, a junior political science major in his video to Obama: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0QiR9SjXGY.
Jonathan Maddison, president of the Rutgers-Camden Student Governing Association, also a political science major, wishes Obama luck in uniting the country: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nwm2v5IGpU4&feature=related.
"Thank you, congratulations and God bless," says Eric Richardson, president of the Black Student Association, and a criminal justice major: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7o7jzsiesjk.
