Rutgers–Camden Celebrates Women’s History Month with Free Lectures
CAMDEN – A discussion on the history of women’s reproductive options and political blogs will highlight a diverse series of free public lectures at Rutgers University—Camden during Women’s History Month in March.
Sponsored by the Rutgers–Camden women’s studies program, the events will be held in the Fine Arts Complex on Third Street, and the Robeson Library and Armitage Hall on Fifth Street, located between Cooper Street and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge on the Rutgers–Camden Campus. Complimentary refreshments or lunch will be provided at each event.

At 12:20 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge, located on the third floor of Armitage Hall, Antoinette Pole, an assistant professor of political science and law at Montclair State University, will discuss “Women: Blogging the Political.”
Thursday, March 5
At 1:30 p.m. in room 110 of the Fine Arts Complex, Jennifer Fisher, an associate professor of public health at Temple University, will discuss “How Much is Enough? Portion Size and Satiation in Young Children.” Fisher’s research has been featured in media outlets such as The New York Times, PBS, and the Discovery Health Channel.
Tuesday, March 10
At 4:30 p.m. in Penn 401, located on the south side of the Robeson Library, Lorrin Reed Thomas, assistant professor of history at Rutgers–Camden, will discuss “What Happened to History in the Seventies? Beyond ‘The Personal is Political’.” Reed Thomas’ forthcoming book is titled Juan Q. Citizen: Puerto Ricans and the Politics of Citizenship in New York City, 1917-1970.
Monday, March 23
At 12:10 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge, located on the third floor of Armitage Hall, Margaret Marsh, interim chancellor at Rutgers–Camden, will discuss “The ‘Mothers’ of the Pill: Margaret Sanger, Katharine McCormick, and Oral Contraception.” Marsh is a widely recognized scholar on reproductive technology. She, with Wanda Ronner, co-author of the recently published book The Fertility Doctor: John Rock and the Reproductive Revolution, will offer keynote addresses this spring at Harvard Medical School and Pennsylvania Hospital.
Thursday, March 26
At 12:20 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge, located on the third floor of Armitage Hall, Martin Rosenberg, professor of fine arts at Rutgers–Camden, will discuss “A Complex Weave: Women and Identity in Contemporary Art.” A former visiting scholar at the Getty Center in Los Angeles, Rosenberg is the author of the book Gender Matters in Art Education.
Monday, March 30
At 12:10 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge, located on the third floor of Armitage Hall, Laura Luciano, assistant director of the Department of Sexual Assault Services and Crime Victim Assistance at Rutgers University, will discuss “Understanding Sexual Assault.”
