Candace L. Straight, Investment Banking Consultant, Inducted to Rutgers Board of Governors

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – Candace L. Straight, a private investor and investment banking consultant specializing in the insurance industry, was inducted to the Rutgers Board of Governors at today’s meeting in New Brunswick. She succeeds George Zoffinger as a public member of the Board of Governors and Rutgers’ Board of Trustees.

Straight, who serves as an independent director at Neuberger Berman’s Mutual Funds and Montpelier Re Holdings, has worked for numerous corporations, including Merck & Co. Inc. and Bankers Trust Co. She has served as an advisory director of Securitas Capital LLC, a global private equity investment firm specializing in insurance and financial services related industries.

In 2009, Straight served on Gov. Chris Christie’s Treasury transition team. She also was co-chair of Gov. Christine Todd Whitman’s Budget Advisory Committee. In 1994, Whitman appointed her to the board of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, where she served as vice chair from 1996 to 2002 and as chair of the Finance and Audit Committee from 1995 to 2003.

Straight also was a member of New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani’s Budget transition team and was appointed by Gov. Thomas Kean as a trustee of the Public Employees Retirement System of the state of New Jersey.

Straight received her bachelor’s degree from Wilson College, Chambersburg, Pa., and is a trustee emerita of her alma mater. She earned an MBA from New York University.

Straight is a former trustee of the New Jersey Network Foundation. She lives in Bloomfield.
