Due Process, Produced With Rutgers’ iTV Studio, Wins Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards
Rutgers’ Raphael Caprio, John Farmer, Sandra King and Peter Troost recognized
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. –Due Process, the critically acclaimed public television series on law and justice produced since the fall of 2011 by Rutgers’ iTV Studio, recently took home two 2012 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards as best discussion series and best discussion special.
Raphael Caprio, former vice president for continuing studies, and John Farmer, dean of Rutgers Law School-Newark, and Sandra King were recognized as co-executive producers on the Emmy as best discussion series. Rutgers is the series producer.
Peter Troost, assistant director of the iTV Studio, was
cited as lighting director on the winning two-part special, “Justice Breyer: On
Democracy,” featuring Associate U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer in a
rare interview shot before an overflow audience at Rutgers Law
School-Newark. King and Farmer
were honored as co-executive producers and King as producer and co-host. The
special was shot in 2011 by NJN Public Television.
The awards bring the number of regional New York and Mid-Atlantic Emmys won by Due Process to 21 since its premiere on NJN in 1996. The program has been co-hosted since its inception by Sandra King, who also serves as its producer, and Raymond Brown.
After NJN went off the air in June 2011, Due Process found a new base at Rutgers Law School-Newark through the efforts of Farmer, and a new production home at iTV Studio on the Livingston Campus in Piscataway, thanks to Caprio.
Co-hosted by King, an award-winning journalist, and criminal defense and human rights attorney Raymond Brown, Due Process is a presentation of the Rutgers School of Law-Newark and the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy. The series examines a broad range of social, legal, and policy issues through honest and unbiased reporting, interviewing and writing.
A unit of the Division of Continuing Studies, Rutgers’ iTV Studio is the university’s professional broadcast facility. Established in 1964, iTV Studio provides television, multimedia, and audio production services to the university as well as to other institutions, educators and global broadcast outlets.
Current and past episodes of Due Process can be viewed on YouTube and on NJTV online.
It airs in New Jersey on NJTV, carried on all cable systems.
