The New Brunswick Community Farmers Market, a collaborative effort of Rutgers, Johnson & Johnson and the city of New Brunswick, held its grand opening on July 10. Located on the Cook Campus adjacent to the diverse neighborhoods of the city's 2nd Ward, the two-times-a-week market is intended to make affordable fresh produce more accessible to local residents and also offer nutrition education, cooking demonstrations and health screenings. The effort embraces the mission of the university's Rutgers Against Hunger initiative, which addresses hunger and food insecurity issues in New Jersey through research, education, civic engagement and food drives.
