Unite Half Marathon at Rutgers on Sunday, April 12 Brings Road Closures, Parking Restrictions
All roads for race will be closed at 6:30 a.m.
NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Unite Half Marathon at Rutgers Sunday, April 12, will bring a number of local road closures and parking restrictions starting at 6:30 a.m. along the flat and fast portion of the course, which winds through three campuses on both sides of the Raritan River, passes by High Point Solutions Stadium and concludes on College Avenue.
As a result, there will be only limited access to the university’s Livingston, Busch and College Avenue campuses. Participants and spectators are encouraged to reach the course early and to expect congestion and delays as the 8 a.m. race time approaches.
No parking will be permitted on Seminary Place beginning 4 a.m. Saturday, April 11. Similarly, parking will be prohibited on College Avenue between the entrance to Buccleuch Park and Seminary Place beginning 4 a.m. Sunday. Rutgers University Police (RUPD) advises that all vehicles parked in violation will be subject to ticketing and towing at the owners’ expense.
Access to the Livingston Campus in Piscataway will be via River Road to Cedar Lane. Drivers can then follow Road 2 to Suttons Lane to Road 3. Parking will be allowed in Lot 105. The access route will be used until 10:30 a.m. when roads on the Livingston Campus are scheduled to reopen.
Access to the Busch Campus in Piscataway will be via Hoes Lane West to Frelinghuysen Road to Allison Road. Parking will be permitted in the lots located on Taylor Road and beyond. The access route will be used until approximately 10:30 a.m. when roads on Busch Campus are scheduled to reopen.
Hamilton and George streets and Easton Avenue will remain open for the duration of the event for access to the College Avenue Campus. The course will include the George Street Extension and College Avenue between Buccleuch Park and Hamilton Street, subjecting all side streets to closures and detours. All roads on the College Avenue Campus, except Seminary Place, will reopen at 1 p.m. Seminary Place will reopen at 3 p.m.
