It’s time to think about flu shots.

Seasonal influenza, commonly called "the flu," is caused by influenza viruses that  can infect the respiratory tract (i.e., the nose, throat, lungs). Unlike other viral respiratory infections, such as the common cold, the flu can cause serious illness and life-threatening complications. The best way to prevent seasonal flu is by getting a seasonal flu vaccination each year. People at high risk for serious flu complications include older people, young children, pregnant women, and people with certain health conditions.

Free flu vaccines will be offered to faculty and staff members with a valid RU ID beginning on October 2. Clinic times and locations are listed below. If none of the below clinic options meet your needs, call 848-932-8254 after November 1 to make an appointment.

The flu vaccination offered this year is the Quadrivalent single dose vaccine. For more information on the vaccine, click here.

Please note: No walk-ins to Hurtado Health Center for a flu shot apart from assigned times listed.

Please bring a copy of each of the following documents with you to the flu clinic:

  1. The Vaccination Information Sheet (VIS) available here.
  2. A completed consent for vaccination form available here.

For more information, contact Joanne O’Brien at 848-932-8254.

The RBHS Newark and Scotch Plains Faculty and Staff  2017 Flu Schedule can be found here.

RBHS Newark employees do not need to bring consent forms with them for their immunization.  Consent forms will be provided by Occupational Medicine Service staff at the time of their immunization.

RBHS New Brunswick/Piscataway faculty and staff should contact Employee Health Services at the Environmental and Occupational Health Services Institute at 848-445-0123 ext. 2 for information on obtaining flu shots.
