How to Find Support at Rutgers
Rutgers University is committed to ending sexual violence, dating/domestic violence, and stalking on campus. For National Crime Victims' Rights Week, check out events planned across Rutgers and learn about resources available all year long through the Offices for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance (VPVA).
There is a VPVA located at every Rutgers location, including Rutgers-New Brunswick, Rutgers-Camden, Rutgers-Newark and Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, to provide guidance to victims/survivors both for immediate and continuing care. These offices have trained advocates who serve to solely support a student’s needs. The VPVA staff is available for emotional support as well as accessing other resources like counseling, medical attention, and other accommodations.

What Is Title IX?
Title IX is part of a 1972 federal education law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex and gender in any federally funded education program. Rutgers is committed to providing a safe learning, living, and working environment, free from discrimination and violence.
Title IX aims to eliminate any sexual or relationship misconduct by preventing its recurrence and finding support solutions to address the impact of its existence. Rutgers supports members of the university in their decision to find support or report any misconduct to the RUPD or Title IX Coordinators. If you are looking for confidential options to discuss the incident before making a decision to report, feel free to reach out to the Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance at your location.
Title IX Coordinators are available to give students and other Rutgers members clear, transparent information about university policies and procedures for addressing sexual and relationship misconduct.
Community Resources:
The NJ Coalition Against Sexual Assault provides confidential, compassionate support in communities throughout New Jersey. NJCASA’s support programs are located in each county in New Jersey and at the Office for Violence Prevention and Victim Assistance at Rutgers University.
