BACKGROUND:  Vanessa Neumann’s work has focused on understanding how illicit trafficking networks are dominated by organized crime and terrorist networks, which are now working together more than is widely understood and pose a threat national security. In this groundbreaking talk Neumann will reveal the nature of these networks and how exposing this issue is of increasingly urgent importance.

In addition to her position running Asymmetrica, Neumann is group leader at the High Level Risk Forum Task Force on Charting Illicit Trafficking at the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as well as a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI.) As an expert on illicit trafficking and strategies to confront crime-terror pipelines, she has consulted for Interpol and is a regular adviser to the U.S. State Department and Department of Defense.
