Rutgers University and the FOP Local 164 have reached a five-year collective negotiations agreement. The FOP Local 164 represents Rutgers University Police Department sergeants and lieutenants.

The agreement, which runs from July 1, 2014, to June 30, 2019, provides for the merger of FOP Local 155 and FOP Local 164 into one collective negotiations unit, representing 43 sergeants and lieutenants.

“On behalf of the university I would like to thank the negotiation team from FOP Locals 164 and 155 for their efforts in reaching this agreement,” said Vivian Fernández, senior vice president for Human Resources and Organizational Effectiveness.

The agreement provides for wage increases for officers and for placement of officers on an enhanced salary scale. The salary increases agreed to in the contract are scheduled to be paid in the Oct. 19, 2018, paycheck.

“We’re happy to have an agreement and to have a year without negotiations ahead of us,’’ said Matt Gulsby, president of FOP Local 164 and a Rutgers University Police Department lieutenant.

In addition, agreement was reached to align benefits and other terms and conditions of employment related to sick leave accruals and usage, funeral leave, personal holidays, overtime, administrative leave, vacation, on call remuneration, work schedules, uniforms and tuition remission.

The negotiated changes in the Memorandum of Agreements (“MOAs”) will be codified and posted on the UHR website.
