Rutgers Giving Day Extended Following Spring Snowstorm

University participates for a third year in daylong effort to encourage supporters to make an impact and share their scarlet pride

On Wednesday, March 21, alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends around the world came together to “Think Bigger” to make an impact on Rutgers Giving Day. But they weren’t the only ones making an impact – a powerful snowstorm dropped a significant amount of wet snow over the northeast region, calling a close to Rutgers University campuses across the state and extending Rutgers Giving Day through Thursday, March 22, at 9 p.m.

Members of the Rutgers community came together virtually Wednesday to support the areas at Rutgers that are most meaningful to them, ranging from scholarships that change students’ lives to research that changes the world for the better. The daylong giving event has been extended through Thursday to allow all those who would like to participate the opportunity to do so.

Participants can:

Make a gift to their favorite Rutgers area at GivingDay.Rutgers.edu. They can also think bigger by creating a matching gift to inspire others to give.

Spread the word on social media by using #RUGivingDay and take part in social media challenges throughout the day to help their favorite Rutgers areas earn additional support.

Attend on-campus events in Camden, Newark and New Brunswick.

This is the third year Rutgers has participated in a daylong effort to encourage the university’s supporters to make an impact and share their scarlet pride.

“It is inspiring to see alumni, staff, faculty, parents, students, and friends come together year after year in support of all things scarlet,” said Nevin Kessler, president of Rutgers University Foundation. “This year, we hope to have an even bigger impact on students, groundbreaking research, and all the diverse schools and programs at the university.”
