This event is open to the public, and media are invited to cover it.

In addition to responding to emergencies and investigating crimes, U.S. police departments face an ever-expanding list of duties that now include keeping abreast of the latest advances in forensic science and addressing cybercrime, terrorism, organized crime, race relations, community relations, youth violence, and street gangs. William J. Bratton, commissioner of the New York City Police Department, will visit Rutgers University—Newark to share his insight on current challenges, trends, policies, and practices in policing, especially in large, congested urban environments.

Commissioner Bratton will entertain questions from the media.
