The Board of Governors makes appointments to the Peter W. Carmel M.D. Chair in Neurological Surgery and the Karmazin and Lillard Chair in Adult Autism

Medical Schools' Anil Nanda Awarded Peter W. Carmel M.D. Chair of Neurological Surgery
The Board of Governors today awarded the Peter W. Carmel M.D. Chair of Neurological Surgery, established in 2015, to Anil Nanda, professor and chair of the Department of Neurological Surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, as well as chief of neurological services at University Hospital in Newark and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Internationally recognized for his clinical and scholarly contributions and leadership in neurosurgery, Nanda is also senior vice president of neurological services at RWJBarnabas Health. Vanessa Bal

Vanessa Hus Bal Awarded the Karmazin and Lillard Chair in Adult Autism 
The Rutgers Board of Governors today awarded the Karmazin and Lillard Chair in Adult Autism to Vanessa Hus Bal, associate professor in the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, whose unique research emphasizes a life span perspective in the understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in adulthood. Internationally recognized for her scholarly contributions and leadership, Bal has established herself as a scholar with a unique and specific focus on adults with autism, examining both biological and behavioral approaches that may be useful in screening and diagnostics. She has served in working group leadership positions for the International Meeting for Autism Research and the Interagency Autism Coordinating Center. Read the full release.

Construction of One-Stop Student Centers Approved
The Board of Governors approved construction of one-stop centers, where students will be able to access services including financial aid, registrar, student accounting and student life in one place, at Rutgers University-New Brunswick and Rutgers University-Newark. A One Stop Student Services Center at Rutgers University-Camden opened this year in Armitage Hall.
