This is the fourth year the university has held a daylong effort to encourage the worldwide Rutgers community to make an impact and share their scarlet pride

Giving Day starts at midnight.

A global community of alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends will come together to “Think Bigger” on Rutgers Giving Day, Wednesday, March 27.

During the daylong event, members of this community will unite in support of Rutgers by making gifts to areas of the university that are most meaningful to them, including life-changing scholarships and world-changing research.

No matter the amount, every gift shapes the university’s bright future. On Rutgers Giving Day, participants can:

  • Make a gift to their favorite Rutgers area at givingday.rutgers.edu, helping to unlock a $100,000 gift from trustee Ken Johnson ENG ’66 and his wife, Jackie, to support student aid
  • Spread the word on social media by using #RUGivingDay
  • Participate in hourly challenges throughout the day to help their favorite Rutgers areas win additional support

This is the fourth year the university has held a daylong effort to encourage the worldwide Rutgers community to make an impact and share their scarlet pride. Last year, more than 6,500 donors made the day a success. Their combined generosity is providing scholarships to students, fueling breakthroughs in research, enhancing the student experience and so much more.

“Every year on Rutgers Giving Day, university community members come together in an inspiring way to support what is most important to them,” said Nevin Kessler, president of Rutgers University Foundation. “Rutgers Giving Day demonstrates how, when people share a common goal, they can make an enormous impact.”

Rutgers’ Equine Science Center is an example of the power of gifts united toward a single cause. On last year’s Rutgers Giving Day, donors gave more than $16,000 to support the center. Some of those gifts are supporting Equine Science 4 Kids, which introduces children to the fields of animal studies, science, technology, engineering and math. Other gifts made to the center that day are supporting horse health, pasture maintenance, veterinary care and graduate student research.
